C (pronounced as "see", like the letter C) is a general-purpose computer programming language developed between 1969 and 1973 by Dennis Ritchie at the Bell Telephone Laboratories for use with the Unix operating system.

Although C was designed for implementing system software, it is also widely used for developing portable application software. The future of the C language is very secure. This is because the choice of programming language for any application depends on the nature of the application itself. C 's biggest assets are its performance and speed of execution. For performance critical applications there is no beating C. Besides, C has been around for many years and has a dedicated community of users. It also has a lot of online resources, a clean syntax and is easy to learn and use. So it is safe to say that C isn't going anywhere.
